Nemo Beach Moving?????

Yesterday i had a meeting with many regular visitors of Nemo Beach to discuss the posseblility of moving the place to a new private sim shared with my brother Gemini and long time SL kid Kris.

Under discussion was how it might be moved with as little distruption and change as possible. Also good and bad points were discussed.

For those who did not attend the meeting the plan is to move Nemo beach and surrounding areas such as Hawkins Bay and Gypsy Cove to a new private sim. If i agree then this will happen next year between Febuary and April.

I have compiled a list of Pro's and Con's that came to light during the meeting...

1. Will own the land, have estate control. Means easier to fix any grief problems.
2. Not Anshe Chung dreamland - Means less likely to be targeted for griefing.
3. Will have input on how the entire sim will look - With neighbours i know and trust you will be able to use the entire SIm to fly and explore and not see huge crap buildings that look out of place.
4. I will have Half a sim rather than 1 third. and with that extra land i plan to make another sea front cabin village for those who want a home close to Nemo Beach.
5. With ownership of the land it will be possible to do larger events including festivals.
6. Monthly Tier for the land will be cheaper than what im currently paying Anshe Chung.

1. Will cost me alot to Buy the land first.
2. Might not be able to get it looking exactly like Nemo does now.
3. The combining of the Vortex Club and Nemo Beach might increase LAG.
4. The Sim will be on its own, no ability to fly or sail into other sims.
5. All Landmarks on the web pointing to Nemo Beach will become redundant.
6. If it does not work out, if it becomes one big mess, i cant go back to Sunrise. Plus id have to keep paying for the land until i find someone else to buy it.

Part of me is excited by the prospect, and part of me is very nervous, because change is so frightening sometimes. I am still looking into ways to move Nemo Beach more exactly, packing buildings, transfering terrain maps. I'm also looking into issues with LAG and talking with Kris and Gemini about what they are thinking of doing. I havent said a definite yes yet until i'm absolutely sure about it.

If you have any questions or advice on any of the issues, please feel free to IM me.

Setting out from Port Babbage

With windlight in hand i ventured out across the new Vernian sea to see what lay out there amongst the waves

The sun was rising beautifully over Babbage Canal District as i left the port and headed towards the giant light house...

In the distance i could see the light house still blazing its beams to sea and beyond that was that island that so many boys are warned never to approach...

As i passed the light house i could have sworn someone was in the window looking down at my raft, but me being well hard pressed on!

And here is was, the old Island. Who lives there, i dunno... but i bet they is scary and have guns! and BIG DOGS!!!

As i looked up i saw the pirate flag, and that was it , i shat myself and decided best head back and get some mates together for an expedition of this scaryness and danger!

Held Hostage by a DOG!

So i was working on my new vendors in the Absinthe Cafe in New Babbage when all of a sudden i heard a growl behind me. Upon turning i saw a wild brown nasty sharp toothed dog that obviously wanted to eat me. But me being all smart and kool quickly climbed onto the bar out of reach.

After shouting meself blue in the face a kid called Billy came to find out what all the noise was. Well soon he was on top of the bar with me out of the rabid dogs reach.

Well eventually the dog went away and me and billy climbed down. We took flight on my airship with my Brother lock'n'loaded with canon, but we was unable to find any trace of the beast....

Goony Adventure - To the Black Swan sim

OK so The first Goony adventure in a while happend at the weekend. I TP'd to The Black Swan Sim where i was joined by a number of Goonies and friends to take on the perilous path filled with booby traps.

The first task was to skillfully dodge a giant swinging axe, the skulls of unfortunate residents lay strewn over the path. we all got through, but Myrtil hesitated causing us all to hold our breathes as she finally darted past the sharp metal slicing monster!

The Pathway stretched out ahead of us and we tried to keep together .

Next was the simple task of jumping over a vast gap in the path, hopping onto a pillar before leaping to the other side. I watched with concern as my little brother struggled to keep his balance.

Fire and lavathreatened to burn us in this task. Some of us fell into the lava screaming in pain. But they are ok :-p

A whole row of moving pillars caused me and my brother endless bother, trying to jump one to another as they moved up and down was difficult.

Finally over the pillars i thought i could take it easy but as soon as i thought that big spikes shot up in front of me as Marv set off a booby trap. Poor Marv, there was nothing we could do for him, so we left his splattered corpse on the path.....

Eventually we could see our goal, the giant statue.... so across the rope bridge we ran, the only obstacle was a broken part of the bridge...

So there we were under the statue, we made it to the end. Another spiffing goony adventure cmplete :-), shame Marv got splattered :-p
If you aint been there check it out... oh and Myrtil originally sent me the SLURL for this place ages ago :-D

Dummie's memory - it maybe a virtual world, but the experience is real

Alot of the time i meet Kid Avs in SL that know more about me than i do them. I do see what i call Kid community regulars, people im aware off but dont really hang out with, I hardly see my small click of goonies so its hard to meet and become good friends with others. But i do see you, and i tend to remember you. Such was the case with one Kid AV called Dummie. His choice of name amused me and although i never really hung out with him, i'd often see him at my DJ Show, or running about my Island. In recent weeks ive heard news of Child Avs disappearing due to Real World illness, and the news of Dummies real world death came as a cold blunt reality check to many of us in SL.

Dummies best friend Caleb and many of those he touched in the metaverse laid tribute to him at Nemo Beach. A touching collection of virtual flowers and caring words to a person who to all of us was just a boy in SL. It makes me think about how many of us in the Kid Av community are here fighting RW illnesses, trying to escape that reality by enveloping themselves in our childish virtual adventures, finding friendships with understanding people and peace of mind. In the end, would it not be great to return to innocence if given the chance?

And with all the controversy following Sky News reports and Mentors clashing over the subject of child avs, this one incident shows me absolutely why Child Avs are important. And its about time this is realised. Until then we're left at the hands of story spinning news reporters and fund grabbing so called public protection centres. They are all after us, because its the easiest way to make money.... i could be wrong though.

Anyway, this post is not about the controversy of being a Kid Avatar, its about a Kid Avatar that wont be visiting Nemo Beach anymore, and the memories many of us have gathered of him. Although virtual, who ever he was in RW, he still touched people around the world and will be missed by many and dearly by the special few.

Guy Fawkes Night Fire Works event!

Thanx everyone who attended the Bon fire and fireworks show. It went Spiffingly. The Guy on the raft Burnt well. The fireworks actually launched. Although i had not planned to burn down the Canal Dock. Luckily a fireman from Caledons volunteer firebrigade was there to put out the flames. All in all, a spiffing event. :-)

There i was, chatting to me mates when all of a sudden, Godzilla rises from the water to attack the evil giant Hydra! Well i can tell you we all were a bit miffed by this intrusion, but what can yu do when two giant lizards decide to battle it out on your campfire!??...

We mostly ran about screaming and trying not to get squished!

New Range almost here

Somehow amongst the events and builds im doing, im still beavering away at a new range of product for you lot to collect. There will be new backpacks, shirts, hover bikes, and even my rubbish attempt at prim hair. Im also working on a new type of AV.... heres a sneak peak!

Halloween Burning Barrel race and Carousel

For halloween i spent most of my time building for New Babbage. The Dark Victorian Steampunk sim was perfect for the ideas i had for a Tim Burton style story about a boy who was turned into and adult and built a carousel to turn him back. Part of the tale was ripped straight from the childrens book The Theif Lord :-p.

On the night of halloween a great burning barrel race was held in the streets of new babbage. Street kids from all over joined in the race.

Many raced ahead of others, but in the end it was about taking part in the community spirit as it should be around this time. The winter solstice is about communities getting together and having fun as they prepare for the coming winter months.

After the Barrel race some of us went to the carousel only to be attacked by the Angry Jenkins!!!!, Luckily Mr Skusking Dagger tickled him and made him run away lol!
